FACULTY INDUCTION PROGRAMME (GURU DAKSHTA)

The Faculty Induction Programme (FIP), also known as Guru Dakshta, is designed to orient newly appointed faculty members to the academic, pedagogical, and institutional ethos of higher education. Conducted under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training initiative, the programme emphasizes curriculum design, student engagement, professional ethics, and research orientation.

The Faculty Induction Programme (FIP) is designed for faculty members in central, state, deemed to be universities, private universities, institutions of national importance, colleges, and other higher education institutions (HEIs).

It familiarizes them with curriculum development, teaching-learning methodologies, assessment and evaluation techniques, ICT-enabled teaching-learning, and university rules and regulations, among other areas.

For all newly appointed teachers, the Faculty Induction Programme (FIP) is mandatory and must be completed within one year of appointment.

In order to complete all the modules, it will require 144 hours, including some project work and field visits/surveys. The duration of the programme will be 4 weeks.

To ensure the programme’s effectiveness, participants are typically assessed on the following dimensions:

  • Participation & Engagement – Active involvement in all the sessions.

  • Teaching Competence – Demonstrated ability to design lesson plans, adopt innovative pedagogy, and integrate ICT tools.

  • Research Orientation – Understanding of research ethics, methodologies, and ability to align projects with institutional priorities.

  • Professional Ethics & Values – Commitment to academic integrity, inclusivity, and respect for diversity in higher education.

  • Reflective Practice – Submission of reflective journals or assignments showing personal growth and application of learning.

  • Final Assessment – May include presentations, project work, or written evaluations to measure overall learning outcomes.

Online quizzes may also form part of the evaluation.
